Isn’t Sex Still Sacred?

Good conversation

I was having a conversation quite recently with some young people on the topic of sex . To be honest they blew my mind. Granted, I am not so young but I am not all that old but sex now seems to be of no value. Isn’t sex still sacred?

Is sex recreational?

Sex now for many and I would hasten to say, this is not for all, just a form of recreational activity. It is no longer laced with love and passion for the one you are with. It is now replaced with where it is done, how many times, the style used and the level of performance. I hope I am not generalizing too much. It’s just how I am viewing it. Again I would have to ask, Isn’t sex still sacred?

Where is the respect?

I can certainly remember when you would not dare to have a sexual conversation especially with loose content around adults and these young people gave it all in its barest form without blinking an eye or twitching a muscle. They were really brazening. There was a point when they were asked to whisper but they refused and stated that it was nothing.

The young people were too brazen

At no point did these young people speak of marriage, abstinence, responsibility or even protection. One made it quite clear that as long as the woman says she is yours you don’t have to use anything with her.

Are we still worried about S.T.D.s?

We should be very concerned that our morals are decaying. The point is there should be some aspects of our lives that should be considered sacred and valued and sex should be one. Our children should be taught this and our churches should not be afraid to make their voices be heard on this topic. If this should continue then there will be major repercussions and these would include more sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies, more incidences of rape and a devaluation of self. Let us continue to teach our youngsters morals and values and let us help them to stand firm for them. Christianity needs to uphold strong sexual morality.
