Its independence in Jamaica again, Jamaica 57th and we are happy that we have been set free and on top of that, we are governing ourselves. We are no longer a colony of England and for this we are proud. We will be really enjoying ourselves as we dance at different parties and swim as we go to different beaches. It will be great when we meet with our friends and have barbecues in our backyards. For our very patriotic people, it will be a day of fun and fellowship and attending the Grand Gala will be a must. We, therefore, will all have somewhere to go.
On the other hand, however, the question is are we free in our minds or are we still mentally enslaved? Are we thinking of really pursuing greatness or are we going to continue to live and not care about our neighbors as we care about ourselves?
As Jamaicans, we are very impacting and if we all start to
live in love where we look out for our neighbors and these include the poor on the streets, the mentally ill and our children who are being abused. We need to annihilate the criminal elements who continue to plague our beautiful island and tarnish its name. This will bring the type of independence to our island that we need.
Our theme “One People, One Nation” means us working together for a unified Jamaica. Jamaicans pulling in different directions cannot cause growth. Therefore, it is imperative that we remember that our fear of GOD is the route to true freedom. Once we follow in His path then Jamaica will be on firmer grounds.
Let us celebrate and bring joy to those who are around us. We should try and show some love to someone who is less fortunate. Put away our tools of mayhem and strife as we pursue true independence.
