Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing the word of God.”
Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. So in order for us to hear from God we need faith. Many person will hear Christians say that God speaks to them or they hear from God and we wonder how He speaks to us, what He said and how He says it. God speaks to us mainly by His word whether in song, poem, acting or the bible.
Studying the word of God helps us to grow in him so that when he speaks we can hear. 2Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Hearing Gods word is another medium in which God speaks to us. We have to continually listening or hearing Gods word by music, preaching and sermons. One other way is to create the atmosphere with the word of God. Our lives must be lined up with the word of God. We must submit our members to God, presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice; Romans 12 vs 1 and live a life that is blameless before the Lord. After all this God will fill us with the Holy Spirit and begin to talk to us through his words, dreams, a still small voice, a song, visions , even a word from a passerby. The Lord will convict our hearts when we start being obedient and live the word.
If we are not hearing from God, we need to search ourselves, pray and fast asking God to open our ear gates to hear his voice. The voice of God makes a difference on our lives. So, all children of God should want to hear from Him and act on what he says. Walking in and listening to Gods word will enhance our spiritual walk with God thus will make us able to do what He tells us. We will now be empowered to witness and bring souls in the Kingdom of God. He will impart his gifts unto us so we can heal the sick, bring deliverance to lost souls.
God speaks to us in many ways.
To hear from God we have to have a close relationship with God, engage in regular conversation with him and we will grow to understand him more and more. It’s important for us to hear from God but it shouldn’t be our ultimate goal. Instead, we should make it our main reason to become a spiritually mature person who is in a close relationship with God. Be humble. Having the confidence that God can speak to us just as He did in times of old. He values us, so don’t let pride creep in our souls. We have to faithfully receive and respond to the message God has for us.
You cannot force God to speak. It doesn’t matter how much we want God to speak to us. We have to be focus on developing a relationship with him. We will only hear from him if He choses to speak. As you invite the Holy Spirit to renew your mind every day, He will cleanse it from such dirt and clutter as false beliefs and attitudes, unhealthy feelings, and misguided plans. Then the Holy Spirit will replace all of that with true thoughts that reflect God’s purposes. It’s more important to become a person who listens regularly to God than it is to constantly ask God to give you guidance. Set aside sometime today to begin listening for God’s voice and hearing his promises and plans for you.
