Let’s say the President or the Prime Minister of your country is coming to have dinner with you. What you do is start preparing. First, you would start cleaning your surrounding and in your house to ensure that everything is spotlessly clean. You would go the extra mile to get chefs to prepare the food because you want everything to be perfect and taste perfect. Furthermore you also make sure that your furniture are polished and well shined. The best pictures would be on the wall, best lighting and so on.
We do all this for just mere humans who cannot or maybe will not do much for us. They may give us money or commend us on how everything was awesome and fill our heads with all the good they can offer. But do they really come through for us? Is their plan for us a long term one? Think about it? How does the politicians work and their one“ bag of empty promises.”
First, I must say, Jesus wants to enter our hearts, how are we going to prepare for him or invite him in? To invite him is to simply acknowledge that you are a sinner, repent and ask him to come in your heart with a prayer of salvation. Revelation 3:20″Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” So he’s knocking at your door asking permission to come in and dine with you, Will you invite him in?
John 3 vs 16, a well-known passage, is a promise to all who invite Jesus to come in and dwell in their hearts. He promised eternal life, this is a promise that no human can fulfil. Can you imagine eternal life, life everlasting? Who wouldn’t want that?
So in order to receive that though, you have to prepare your hearts for this by surrendering to him. Let him have free course in your life. You have to ask him to clean you up from the inside. Change your focus, the way you do things and the way you live. 2 Corinthians 5 vs 17 says if any man be in Christ he’s a new creature, old things are passed away……but watch this part he said OLD things are passed away, gone forever and behold all things are become new. Look at the word NEW
So you see, his promises are not empty. Omg! These are what we should live by, “his promises.” O want you to compare the two. Having the president/prime minister in your house with a bag of empty promises or having Jesus in your heart/home with the promise of eternal life. God has a long term plan for your life. Jeremiah:29:11
Salvation is not about asking Jesus into our heart, but giving our heart to Him. He is our Lord and the one whom we are called to serve. Our Lord has already come to earth, lived, died, resurrected, and ascended to heaven to show His love for us. He simply asks for us to believe in Him to receive eternal life
