Christmas

Christmas and New Year is coming and not even Covid19 can stop that. The question is what is it going to be like? For those of us who are in Jamaica, we will not have our annual Grandmarket and that will throw a “wrench into some spokes”. This is usually the time when the best, dapper, chic, and radiant fashion comes alive and when we see more higglers than buyers.

Great food

 It’s a time when we see more appetizing and delectable food on sale than there are mouths to eat. This is the time for the biggest party of the year! House parties will get a knock as well and even office parties. But, Lets put away the gloom! It’s going to be great!

The family will now buy presents long before Christmas eve. This will be done and presents will be wrapped properly and not in a haste. We will have more Christmas trees being set up and more creative lighting on houses.

Nobody will be tired on Christmas day and they will be able to help and cook. Usually, after the grand market, all the party-goers would come in late and tired and wake at 12noon Christmas afternoon. Wow, now we can all get up at eight and pull presents together. Mommy won’t be the only one slaving in the kitchen. Everybody will pitch in. For those abroad, the family would make even better snowmen and have better snowball fights.

Let us worship

Wow, the church won’t be as full this year as in previous years. People who have not been to church for the whole year usually attend church on Christmas Sunday. There won’t be that many in church this year but they will be online. Online church is going to be filled this year. It is a strong possibility that people will think more about the true meaning of Christmas this year than they usually do.

There might just be a whole lot of games being played this Christmas season. The sales of computers, laptops and tablets will go up and the novelty that has worn off these things may just cause more interaction than they would normally. More time will therefore be spent with family here again.

Hey, who says we can’t party at home. The music is there, the food is there, the drinks are there and cake and ice cream as well. The clothes bought will be there and all the cameras from the phones will be there. It’s going to be a great time with individual families and guess what the link can be made through your phone and laptops to link everybody else. This Christmas is going to be a blast and it could be of course the most novel and it might just be the very best.
