Do you know there are times when the best thing to do is to be quiet? There are time when it is best to “shut up” as this silence can mean less issues.

One such time is when you are wrong. There is no way you can be wrong and strong. It’s better to be humble and take the reprimand than try to be defensive. You trying to defend yourself may just land you in a whole lot more trouble. If you are wrong you are just wrong. Shut up!

When too many people are talking: Why are you going to be talking when a bunch of people are talking. The possibility is you will not be heard. This means that whatever you are saying would just go like the wind. The best thing to do is to wait until everybody is ready to listen to you. The words coming from your mouth should be of such that someone should be listening. So just shut up when they are talking.

When there is a quarrel or argument: it always takes two to quarrel. It therefore means if you are quiet then the other person would be talking to him or herself. That would actually look odd and that person might just be led to be quiet. It’s really quite annoying and irritating when you are arguing or cursing by yourself. It looks funny too. Silence is really golden.

When watching a movie: Believe it or not if you are talking and the movie is going on you are bound to miss something. If you notice when you go to the movies the people watching are very quiet because they don’t want to miss anything. The only time there is an uproar is usually when some action is taking place or something really dramatic occurred.

When you have nothing to say: It’s best to be quiet when you really don’t have anything to say. The reason behind this is that you may end up saying something you may regret. There is also the case of you saying something stupid and this may just put you in an embarrassing situation. So the best thing to do is to keep yourself quiet when you have nothing to say. Just shut up; it won’t hurt you.

When it’s not your business: It’s best not to dip your mouth into people’s business when you are not called. If you are not in it your name will not be called. By getting involved you could say something to make matters worse and you might end up being the reason why no way was found to fix it. If you are called to mediate that’s different but other than that it is best to stay away and shut up.

There are other reasons but usually as time goes by you will either experience them or learn of them.
