Don’t doubt yourself
So, I went walking this morning. After walking I decided to jog but while jogging on the stretch which is the main road leading back to the entrance of the scheme that I live on, I felt like I couldn’t make it. I looked down the road and saw my destination point where I wanted to end the jogging but maannnn it looked way too far, and was about to stop. Then I decided to stop looking down the road and look right on the ground in front of me while I jog. I told myself, “I’m taking this one step at a time.” My next thought was of the next step, then the next and then the next. Before I knew it, I had reached to the spot where I was to stop. I started to liken it to how to complete several tasks at work.
Take One Step At A Time
It then dawned on me that even though we normally say look at the light at the end of the tunnel, sometimes we have to change and stop looking at it because it may be a deterrent more than a motivation. Focusing on one thing at a time can help you to reach your destination before you know it. This really can be compared to how to complete several tasks at work.
It Can Be Overwhelming
Sometimes at the business place you have so much to do, and it seems like it will never get done when you look at the bigger picture. Setting your goals and taking them down one at a time in a consistent and steady manner will get the job done. Inconsistency, stopping, complaining or blaming will not help. Slow and steady does it. Being focused on your tasks one at a time does it. This is how to complete several tasks at work.
Support Is Always Important
My husband was beside me jogging pushing me on and when I said, “I can’t make it,” he said “YES, you can! Just right there,” pointing to my destination. Having support is also a big deal. Ensuring that you have supportive persons around who are not complaining and pointing out the mammoth of a task you may have to do can be a big help. Have persons around you with similar goals who can motivate and help you along. Choose who you listen to and work with who you can depend on. Lock out the noise and negative talkers.
After pointing out the light at the end of the tunnel, my husband just silently jogged beside me until we got there. Then he said, “See, you did it.” Mind you, I was “busted” but guess what I DID IT! I stopped, held my head down, took some deep breaths, then I started my walk again. Going a bit slow and then I picked up the momentum again to do my power walks.
Success Will Come
Though you may get tired at times after a rough job it’s not time to stop because the journey has not yet ended. Keep going and be consistent because the next task is ahead. Nothing is wrong with taking a break. You cannot run yourself to a wreck. If you stop for long periods too this will make you not want to go again. So, re- energize, refocus and revamp if what you started out doing was not successful. Everything takes time, consistency, and commitment. I am sure soon I will be jogging for a longer distance If I keep at it. Be reminded though that this is how to complete several tasks at work.
