Buju Banton has done us proud as our new Festival song winner. When we listen to the words of his song we get the feel of the real Jamaica and we feel that sense of nostalgia as it pulsates through our very being.

Many of us yearn for this Jamaica where we are able to experience the warmth and love that drives the very essence of our people. The reggae music beats in our hearts and as the words are heard the images are created in our minds and we are able to identify with the beauty and power of our great country.

The video is just as good as we are able to see our own and the beauty of our country. We are able to see the lush mountains, the sea .the people on the street, the food, the ackee, the melon and we are able to remember where we are coming from. The thought of the struggles that we have been through is brought out. The playing of the dominoes is also a great feature of this video and on most corners a dominoes table can be seen and the banging can be heard in most communities at times at odd hours as well.

“I Am A Jamaican” is truly appropriate as patriotism bleeds from this song wetting our grounds as our ancestors dance to our Jamaican reggae Festival song. Hats off to Buju Banton as he shines out of Jamaica impacting the world.
