Do You Like You?

Do you like you?

Have you ever stopped to look at yourself? How do you behave? What is your personality like? Do you like you? Is there anything about you that you would like to change?

Change because of you…

People tend to think that individuals are always satisfied with how they see themselves. They don’t realize that’s the reason why a person may change their skin tone, or speak with a different accent or even become more aggressive than they normally are is because they are not satisfied with who they are . There are many people who are out there who hate to see themselves every day. They hate the way they look or how they relate. Then there are those who look on others and compare themselves.

Comparing yourself to others is not ideal…..

It is okay to want to be better, but it is never a good idea to compare yourselves to others. Look for the great traits in others and try to adapt them. Wanting a change for yourself is a good thing and something that should be ventured into for you. Do not make the mistake of changing just because you believe you need to fit in. Looking at others can lower your self-esteem and dampen your confidence when reaching to their level seem farfetched or unattainable. The question again is, do you like you?

Don’t just change to fit in….

There are times when you are not comfortable with yourself. You believe you are too perfect, lazy, miserable, arrogant, petty, nice, argumentative, or even ugly. Maybe you see yourself as an abuser, smoker, alcoholic or something else. If you see the need to change then this change must be made because of you. You should want this and take your time to make changes. Ask yourself if you really need these changes and why. It must be understood that changes do not just happen overnight. People are different and so changing can be quicker for some in comparison to others. It is important that you are patient with yourself as you seek to change. Remember that “habits are easy to make but hard to break”.

Changes take time and patience……

Getting rid of something that has been embedded in your personality will take a while to change but it is possible if you want it hard enough.  We need to understand that we could make ourselves better if we chose to especially if we really see the need for change. Keep in mind though that there are times when you may need extra help, and this is where a councilor may come in to play. There are sometimes things that you may need to talk to someone about and release your mind and eventually the behavior.

Change is always possible……

Change is possible in everybody if they see the need for it. The idea that “a zebra cannot change its spots” might be true for the zebra but not necessarily so in you as an individual. Many abusers, gunmen, thieves, liars just to name a few have made changes in their lives. They have gone on to live a life that they can be proud of. A change for your better is always a positive move.

One major thing you need to remember is that you do not have to make the change alone, God through the Holy Spirit can and will be right there with you as your journey for change begins. You only need to ask.

Do you have issues with you today?  Are you really in change mode? If so, make a step today. The change can be yours. Stand and make a step in the right direction. It could change your life positively for ever.
