BEING THANKFUL

For many of us, no matter the situation we give thanks. Some situations are hard to give thanks for because they did not turned out the way we want them to.  Well, you got pregnant and you do all you can to take care of yourself and the pregnancy because you and your partner want a baby so badly. Five months into the pregnancy, there is a miscarriage, you lost the baby. How can you give thanks for this?

This is a devastating situation especially when you don’t have a child. You weep and mourn, you have days when you want to give up. Friends will try to console you, cheer you up. Then there’s the ones who will say, “Everything is going to be alright, in everything give thanks.” You’re wondering to yourself how you’re supposed to give thanks when you just lost your first child and you don’t even know if you can get pregnant again, your partner keep thinking to himself what could he have done to prevent all that just happened. I want to tell someone that only God knows best.

Thessalonians 5:18 “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Now only God knows the future, He sees far ahead of us. He sees the danger that lies ahead what we can bear and He also knows what is good for us.

During our difficult times, God wants us to focus on Him and His faithfulness to us, rather than on our circumstances; to dwell on His promise to never leave or forsake us and to trust Him to help us in every situation we face in life. Hebrews 13:5

Look at this, we have to give thanks to God for life, putting food on the table, a shelter over our heads. These are the everyday things but very important. God is good and his mercies endured forever, Psalm 118:29. His goodness and mercy go hand in hand. Our spiritual attitude must shift to accommodate the reality that we are commanded to give thanks continually as part of our daily lives. We do so not because we receive something or expect something. It’s because God is good and His mercy is eternal.

So as we go through our daily life, let us be thankful to God first for everything He has done for us. Things He has saved us from. For being our shield and our protectorate. Give thanks and be appreciative to persons who have helped us. Giving thanks is a must.
